NFL Top 10 Teams thru Week 3

These are the AGSN Top 10 Rankings in the NFL thru Week 3

10. New England Patriots

NFL: Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots

Wins: Miami Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders

Losses: Seattle Seahawks

Cam Newton has been terrific in 2020. I had doubts that he would perform up to the high expectations, but I was wrong. Thru 3 games, Newton has 714 yards passing, 6 total touchdowns (4 rush, 2 pass), and 2 interceptions. He has been extremely impactful in the Patriots running games as well. 149 yards on the ground this season, including 15 runs that went for a 1st down. Not only has he been playing well, but he has been a game changer out on the field. Something we haven’t seen since 2015.

Only concern is the weapons the outside for Newton. Julian Edelman is valuable slot reciever, but is now 34 years old. N’Keal Harry, 2019 first-round pick, has played well through 3 games, but has no touchdowns to show for it. After that, it is Jakobi Myers and Damiere Bryd. Pretty bleek if you ask me. A

If Cam Newton continues to play this high level, the Patriots can possibly land a spot in the playoffs.

9. Tennessee Titans

Wins: Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars

Losses: Minnesota Vikings

COVID-19 had infiltrated the Tennessee Titans organization, and we still have yet to hear when the game will be rescheduled for against the Steelers. Either Monday or Tuesday night. I am hoping for TUESDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL.

If you take COVID-19 out of the equation, the Titans are a 3-0 football team, and are riding Derrick Henry. The team has never lost a game (10-0) when Derrick Henry has at least 25 carries. Through 3 games, Henry (82 carries) has 12 more carries than any other running back in the NFL (Josh Jacobs- 68).

31 carries Week 1 vs Denver
25 carries Week 2 vs Jacksonville
26 carries Week 3 vs Minnesota

I have them ranked #9, and not higher, because they haven’t faced much coemption this season, and after watching Justin Jefferson catch 7 for 175 on those corners, I am concerned about the back end of the defense.

8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mark LoMoglio, The Associated Press

Wins: Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos

Losses: New Orleans Saints

After Week 1, the entire country overreacted about Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. Brady threw two interceptions against the Saints in Week 1, including one that was returned for a touchdown. 0-1, two picks, and it was the end of the world. In the past two games since that loss, Tom Brady is 2-0, 514 yards passing, 4 touchdowns, 1 interception, and avg. 98.05 QBR. Brady is the GOAT, and right now, the Bucs are the favorite to win the NFC South.

7. Green Bay Packers

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Wins: Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, New Orleans Saints

Losses: N/A

Aaron Rodgers has looked terrific through 3 weeks. Down in New Orleans, he took advantage of the hard-count, which won the game at the end. Rodgers and the Packers offense put up 37 points without their All-Pro Wide Receiver DeVante Adams.

BIG concern about this team is the defensive side of the ball. The run defense has been really bad. Alvin Kamara ran all over the defense on Sunday night. The Detroit Lions also had success in the run game back in week 2. MLB Christain Kirksey went down on Sunday night, and the team is already with DT Kenny Clark. That defense could be the reason the Packers miss out on a chance at winning the Lombardi Trophy.

6. Los Angeles Rams

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at Buffalo Bills

Wins: Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles

Losses: Buffalo Bills

If it weren’t for a awful call inside the 5-yard line with under 30 seconds left in the 4th quarter against the Buffalo Bills, the LA Rams would probably be 3-0. Sean McVay’s play calling has been terrific through three weeks. He kept the Cowboys guessing, and put the Eagles on skates. Jared Goff has also been outstanding in 3 games. He has a 70% completion percentage, 863 yards, 5 TD, and 2 INT.

On defense, they have the best defensive tackle in the NFL, Aaron Donald, and what some would say the best cornerback in the league, Jalen Ramsey. I think this team could be primed for a run in the playoffs, but will have a tough regular season ahead of them. They play in the best division in the NFL, and it will be difficult for them to come out on top of the NFC West. Their rivals are two spots ahead…

5. Baltimore Ravens

Wins: Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans

Losses: Kansas City Chiefs

Please, lets not overreact to much about the Baltimore Ravens. I know they looked terrible on Monday night against the Chiefs, but before then, they had won 14 straight regular-season home games. Lamar Jackson is still an MVP level QB, which he showed in the first two games. I do have them as the second best team in their division right now, keep reading for more.

4. Seattle Seahawks

Wins: Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys

Losses: N/A

If the season were to end today, Russell Wilson would be crowned MVP for the first time in his career. He has been spectacular thru 3 games; 925 yards, 14 touchdowns (1st in NFL), 1 interception, and avg. 86.2 QBR. I will admit, after watching Patrick Mahomes on Monday night, I am a bit worried that Wilson could get snubbed again from the award.

I do not have the Seahawks higher in my rankings due to there defense. Dealing with injuries, including Jamal Adams, the Seattle defense has been the worst in the NFL thru 3 games. 32nd- best passing defense in the NFL, allowing 430 yards in the air each week. 80 more yards than any other team.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers

Wins: New York Giants, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans

Losses: N/A

The Steelers opponents this season have a combined record of 0-9. Undefeated through three weeks, the defense has been outstanding. Cam Hayward, Stefon Tuitt, T.J. Watt lead the top defensive front in the NFL. Minkah Fitzpatrick leads the defensive backs group.

On offense, I feel confident in Big Ben leading this groups of backs and receivers. They have 3 legit NFL RBs and James Washington has emerged as a top target on the outside for Big Ben and the Steelers. I have the Steelers as the favorite to win the AFC North right now.

2. Buffalo Bills

Wins: New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Rams

Losses: N/A

Back before the season begun, I picked the Buffalo Bills to land the number one seed in the AFC, and represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. I am all in on Buffalo. Josh Allen has taken a huge step, now in his 3rd season. Sean McDermott is the most underrated coach in the NFL. Easy division, and this will be the year they beat New England.

Patrick Mahomes… enough said.
